The weather in Hong Kong is hot all year round (with maybe one and a half months of delayed winter) and on those sweltering days, a dip in the pool seems like a very appealing option. Luckily, the city is packed with amazing swimming pools that are both stylish and serene. Portier Explorer has rounded up some of the best hongkong pools, from luxury hotels to public swimming pools with breathtaking views.
The swanky W hotel’s 76th-floor rooftop is home to one of the most spectacular rooftop pools in Hong Kong. The stylishly designed infinity-edge pool is surrounded by an unbeatable view of the city. There’s also a smaller jacuzzi-pool where you can relax after your swim and soak up the stunning views. Deckchairs for sunbathing, cocktails on offer, and a bite to eat will make your day at this stunning Hong Kong pool even more memorable.
Another swanky option is the luxurious Regent’s rooftop pool. The gorgeous blue tiles of this infinity pool glisten under the sun and offer breath-taking views of Victoria Harbour. The pool has three different temperature zones so you can choose your preferred spot based on your mood. After your swim, you can unwind on one of the cosy daybeds and enjoy a refreshing drink from the pool bar.
Besides boosting physical health, swimming is also beneficial for mental wellbeing. It reduces stress, alleviates depression and boosts energy levels. It’s a great way to relieve the daily grind, so you can feel refreshed and ready to take on the day. Try to swim at least three times a week for optimum benefits.
Public swimming pools in Hong Kong are managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. Currently, there are 22 public pools in the city. The entrance fee for adults is HK$17 on weekdays and HK$19 on weekends. Children under 3 are free. Those with disabilities, the elderly, and full-time students can enter for a discounted rate.
With only 40% of seasonal lifeguards reporting for duty, it is unlikely that all public beaches and pools will be fully reopened this summer. Despite this, the authorities are working on different measures to resolve the problem. In addition to increasing the salary of seasonal lifeguards, they are also hiring lifeguards on two-year contracts.
Hopefully, the situation will improve soon and all of Hong Kong’s fantastic swimming pools can be fully reopened. Until then, enjoy your stay at these stunning Hong Kong pools and don’t forget to share your photos with us on Instagram!
