Singapore Pools is a well-known household name and the trusted brand for lottery and sports bets in the country. However, there have been an increase in the number of unofficial websites or social media accounts misusing our branding to announce winning numbers to interested parties for a fee. Please be advised that these are not official channels for such announcements and that we do not appoint external parties to provide such services.
Founded in 1968, Singapore Pools is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Tote Board and reports to the Ministry of Finance. Since it was established, the organisation has played a critical role in combating illegal gambling among Singaporeans. Its mandate is to ensure that the people who gamble in a safe and trusted environment, and that any surplus revenue can be channelled back into helping the community through charities.
The company has also proactively worked with other government agencies to support people who have gambling problems. Its efforts include raising awareness of the existence and causes of gambling addiction, offering help hotlines, educating community agencies on early recognition and intervention, and enhancing its website and e-services portal in 2022 to make it easier for people to find information about problem gambling and self-exclusion.
As part of its ongoing commitment to the community, the company recently held the second edition of its annual Community Day carnival at Gardens by the Bay with some 340 staff volunteers and more than 300 beneficiaries from the local community. The event was one of the highlights for many beneficiaries who enjoyed a wide range of carnival games, food, and other activities. Seniors were able to learn digital literacy skills and how to use the Singapore Pools app in engaging settings. Although Covid restrictions have narrowed the options for seniors to engage in outdoor activities, Chin is confident that digital literacy training will be beneficial for them both physically and mentally.
Another important aspect of Singapore Pools is its focus on youth development, including supporting the education and career aspirations of its students. This is in line with the organisation’s goal to be “a socially responsible corporate citizen that cares for our young.” The company has forged close partnerships with more than 50 partners, which range from education and training providers to government bodies.
To help its employees give back to the community, Singapore Pools has launched the Employee Volunteer Programme (EVP). The initiative allows staff to take leave from their normal duties to volunteer for community projects and programmes. This year, the company aims to train 500 employees and will work with 100 partners to identify projects that can benefit from their expertise. The company will also promote the EVP through social media and other marketing channels. In addition, it will encourage its employees to donate to charity through payroll deductions. This will help to increase the amount of funds raised by the organisation this year. This will be a significant increase over the $2 million that was donated last year.
