With the temperature rising, cooling off with a dip at one of Hong Kong’s best public swimming pools is the perfect way to beat the heat. From Ocean Park’s pirate ship water cannons to Tseung Kwan O’s mega water play areas, there are lots of fun ways for kids and adults alike to enjoy a swim this summer.
But nearly half of the city’s 45 public swimming pools plan to close lanes or facilities reserved for swim instruction, according to union representatives. The Hong Kong Recreation and Sports Professionals General Union said 20 pools told swimming clubs they could only partially open this summer due to a shortage of lifeguards. “Opening partially will not only affect swimmers’ training but also the city’s pool industry development,” said Lee Yuet-man, chairman of the union.
Hennessy, meanwhile, said swimming pools had to make the difficult decision between hiring enough lifeguards and offering as many public classes as possible in order to remain open to the community. Swimming clubs were notified of their time slots four months in advance, but there’s no guarantee that lessons will be held if a pool’s staffing is compromised at the last minute, Hennessy said.
If you’re looking for a place to relax and cool off after a day at the beach, this beautiful pool is the spot for you. The water is clean and inviting, with a variety of activities available to keep you busy for hours. The beach is also nearby, and there’s even a bar so you can grab a drink while you soak up the sun.
The newest addition to the waterfront area in Tsim Sha Tsui is this gorgeous, modern pool. The blue tiles of the Hyatt Centric’s infinity pool glisten in the sunshine, and the breathtaking view will definitely take your breath away. It’s a great spot to take a picture, and you’ll be sure to want to visit again and again.
The pool has a capacity of 2,516 people, making it an ideal space for a big group to gather and hang out together. There are plenty of chairs, tables and umbrellas scattered around the area to provide a comfortable lounge experience. You can also get some delicious seafood from the nearby restaurant to go with your drinks. The staff is friendly and the location is great, just steps from Victoria Harbour. The only drawback is that it’s a little pricey at about $30 per person. But it’s worth it for the view alone.
